Managing Director Job Vacancy: Kenya Tourist Board

Kenya Tourist Board is a State Corporation whose mandate is to market Kenya as a preferred tourist destination both locally and internationally.

We seek to fill the position of Managing Director which requires a qualified and dedicated Kenyan.

The Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) brings together the Government and the private sector and is responsible for increasing the growth of tourism in Kenya through marketing in line with Vision 2030.

The Board of KTB seeks to recruit a Managing Director to provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of its goal of maximizing tourism's social and economic contribution to Kenya's economy.

The Managing Director will report to the Board of Directors and with the Management team execute plans, strategies and develop appropriate budgets for marketing Kenya as a tourist destination.

The Managing Director will work closely with the Government and the major players in the industry both at home and abroad to ensure that the agreed marketing plans and strategies are achieved in a cost effective manner.

As the tourism industry is expected to make a far more significant contribution to the economic and social development of Kenya, the successful candidate will be taking on major national responsibility.

The right candidate therefore will be result oriented, have vision and the ability to articulate and execute short and long term plans, relate effectively with public and private institutions and harmonize competing interests.

Self-motivation and high integrity are essential.

Desired Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree preferably in a business related field from a recognized university.
  • MBA or its postgraduate equivalent is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills in research, creativity and innovation
  • Thorough knowledge of international business will be an added advantage
  • Aged over 40 years with not less than 10 years experience at senior management level in both public and private sector.
The successful candidates' appointment will be on a 3-year renewable contract based on satisfactory performance. An attractive salary package will be offered on a negotiable basis.
