Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company Ltd (KIWASCO) Vacancies

1. Technical Manager

The Company is looking for a dynamic Technical Manager to offer excellent leadership in the provision of water and sewerage services while bringing the required changes in work, culture and attitude necessary for accountable performance and improved customer service.

This is a senior position reporting to the Managing Director. The overall purpose of the job will be to manage Kiwasco's technical operations, to ensure that the technical assets of the Company are acquired, maintained and operated efficiently.

Duties
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership in the technical division to ensure provision of high quality services to customers.
  • Steer the development of departmental policies, procedures and actions plans in line with company mission and objectives.
  • Ensure that all water and sewerage services infrastructure is operated and maintained to the required standards.
  • Oversee preparation of comprehensive departmental reports and budgets, to Managing Director to facilitate decision-making.
  • Ensure development of departmental staff through training motivation
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering from any recognized institution
Registered Engineer
  • Higher qualification will be an added advantage
  • 8 years experience with at least 4 years in management level
  • Prior experience in managing a functional level in a large organization/busy environment for at least 3 years
2. Electrical Engineer

Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance and installation on Kiwasco equipment and structures.

Duties
  • Plan, organize and carry out all electrical installations and repairs.
  • Write reports on existing pumping sets, and their breakdowns.
  • Ensure and clarify payments for power consumed by KIWASCO for equipment, premises and other installations.
  • Advise the procurement section on electrical purchases and verify items bought.
  • Maintain a service schedule for motors, generators and all other electrical equipment.
  • Replace worn out electrical wires, main switches, fuses and capacitors.
  • Maintain service, install and repair all electrical plant and equipment including motors and generators.
  • Ensure that machines run smoothly and breakdowns are attended to immediately.
Academic Qualifications And Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Higher National Diploma holder with 8 years experience in maintenance of an industrial or waterworks plant
3. Finance Manager

This is a senior position reporting to the Managing Director. The overall purpose of the job will be to ensure that the company's financial resources are managed in accordance with sound financial management principles and ensure timely production of financial reports to the stakeholders.

Duties
  • Oversee the overall function of finance department
  • Formulate the company's financial strategy and ensure it is property implemented
  • Formulate and implement sound financial and accounting policies, procedures and systems which are compliant with acceptable accounting policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop systems for the effective and efficient management of financial resources
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounting, reporting and analysis in order to aid management decision making
  • Ensure efficient revenue collection, disbursements, accounting and reporting
  • Advise the company on the financial viability of proposed investments
  • Ensure financial reports are prepared and submitted in compliance with the company requirements
  • Prepare budgets and periodic financial performance reports for presentation the Board of Directors
  • Custody and maintenance of relevant asset registers and other financial reports
  • To ensure that the company's financial accounting and purchasing procedures are organized and carried out in line with accepted practices
  • Manage of the provision and recording of financial and accounting information externally-funded projects and the control of all externally funded expenditure
  • Working closely the HR & Administration Manager to manage the payroll
  • Ensure the maintenance of proper accounting records to meet the requirements of both internal financial management and management reports and external audits.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors of Commerce/Business Administration, accounting or finance
  • CPA(K)
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of accounting packages
  • Be a member of ICPAK
  • 5 years experience at a similar position
  • MBA will be an added advantage
  • More than 30 years of age
4. Stations In-Charge Waste Water

Reporting to the Waste Water Operations Coordinator. Stations In-charge Waste Water will be responsible for Supervising and coordinating activities at the waste water treatment station

Duties
  • Evaluation of daily waste water laboratory reports and recommendations
  • Provide direction, guidance and support required to perform duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide the employees with the required resources such as working tools and protective clothing for effective performance of duties.
  • Prepare work plans ahead of time and communicate to relevant staff in good time for proper planning.
  • Review the work done to ensure that it meets the required standards.
  • Liaise with network maintenance team to perform regular and corrective maintenance duties
  • Liaise with NEMA to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in environmental Engineering/Chemistry
  • Six years experience in a Waste Water treatment plant or a busy manufacturing environment.
5. Station In-Charge Distribution Reservoirs/ Network

Reporting to the Technical Manager, Stations In-charge Distribution Reservoirs will be responsible for coordinating the water distribution activities at the reservoir station.

Duties:
  • Preparation of daily distribution reports
  • Provide direction, guidance and support required to perform duties efficiently and effectively
  • Provide the employees with the required resources such as working tools and protective clothing for effective performance of duties.
  • Prepare work plans and communicate to the team in good time for proper planning.
  • Liaise with the Water Production Coordinator on the daily water requirements
  • Liaise with the maintenance team to perform maintenance duties as per schedule
  • Coordinate the water distribution and draw out necessary distribution measures in case of shortages
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc Civil engineering or HND with 8 years experience in water network
  • Six years experience, two of which must be at supervisory level
6. Public Relations and Communication Officer

Reporting to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will take a lead role in spearheading the PR and Communication strategies for the company.

Duties
  • Design, formulate and oversee the implementation of the company's entire public relations and publicity programs.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy that will provide guidance and direction to ail strategic business units (SBU's) of the company.
  • Develop and implement a brand strategy and process for the company.
  • Ensure all the information on services offered by the entire company are well updated and communicated.
  • Manage the website and ensure all communication and material of the company is regularly updated.
  • Ensure that the Company's corporate image is enhanced and maintained.
  • Develop and implement the CSR strategy for the company.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • A University degree in Public relations/ communications or National Diploma in Public relations/ communications with 8 years experience.
  • Must have ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with the ability to connect with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Have experience managing a team and possess skills that will enable people to achieve performance goals.
