Nurse / Midwife Job Vacancy: Medecins Sans Frontieres

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to populations in danger.

MSF-OCB is seeking a candidate for the post of Nurse / Midwife for its operations in Somalia.

The nurse midwife will be working under a field coordinator and be the central person for coordination and supervision of the medical activities of 1 project in Somalia.

The post includes tasks and duties in the implementation, planning and monitoring of a district health care program with nutritional, reproductive health, paediatric and surgical components.

Training and transfer of skills will be an essential component of the job.

The selected candidate will work closely in a team of international and national colleagues.

Currently, the project is managed by remote control, hence the position is currently based in Nairobi with infrequent field visits to the project.

If security allows, the job will be re-allocated to Somalia.

Requirements for the position:

Qualified Nurse Midwife with more than 4 years of professional experience, of which at least 2 years in midwifery.

Experience in training with excellent communication skills.

Preferably experience in pharmacy management and / or paediatrics, nutrition or specific disease control programs.

Preferably previous MSF experience or experience with another NGO.

Self motivating and able to work independently.

Somali speaking would be a great asset.

Computer literate in Word and Excel with experience in analysis of medical data.
