Job Profile

An officer at this level will be deployed to carry out the following:-

• Sampling for analysis with developed sampling protocols.
• Undertake routine laboratory analysis in consultation with senior pesticide analysts.
• Updating analytical databases.

Person Profile

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• A Bachelor of science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or any other relevant discipline with three (3) years experience in analytical work.
• A Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry from a recognized institution.
• Demonstrated merit and ability in performance of his / her duties.
• Proficiency in Quality Management Systems and computer applications.

Assistant Manager, Analytical Services

Job Profile

The officer will report to the Manager, Registration and Analytical Services and will be the head of analytical section and will be responsible for the following duties:-

• Monitor the analysis of pesticides and preparation of analytical reports.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Laboratory Practices.
• Advice the Manager on matters related to analysis of pest control products quality.
• Develop and implement sectional programmes, work plans and budgets.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Manager.

Person Profile

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
• A Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry from a recognized institution.
• Served as a Senior Pesticide Analyst or equivalent position in a similar organization for a period of at least three (3) years.
• Have served in a similar or related organization for not less than eight (8) years.
• Attended a management course for a period of not less than three (3) weeks.
• Demonstrated competence in computer applications.
• Demonstrated a high degree of managerial and professional competencies as reflected in work performance and results.
• Competence in Quality Management Systems.

Assistant Manager, Compliance Services

Job Profile

Reporting the Manager, Compliance and Safety Services, the officer will head Compliance Section and be responsible for the following:-

• Supervise the development of technical programs on compliance.
• Supervise the development of guidelines for pesticide quality control and compliance.
• Provide guidance to Inspectorate staff on quality control and effluent management systems.
• Coordinate investigation and prosecutions of contraventions of the Pest Control Products Act.
• Supervise pesticide imports documentation and verification at ports of entry.
• Implement sectional programmes, work plans and budgets.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Manager.

Person Profile

Appointments to this grade will be made from officers who have:-

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Veterinary medicine or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
• A Masters degree in Science or Agriculture Sciences, Veterinary, animal sciences, environmental sciences or any other related science from recognized institution.
• Attended a management course for a period of not less than three (3) weeks.
• Served in a senior position as a senior inspector or quality control officer or equivalent for not less than three (3) years.
• Have served in a similar or related organization for not less than eight (8) years.
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional and managerial competencies as reflected in work performance and results.

Assistant Manager, Safety Services

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance and Safety Services, the officer will head Safety Services Section and be responsible for the following:-

• Supervise the development of technical training and disposal guidelines and standards.
• Supervise the dissemination of information on pesticides to stakeholders and general public.
• Supervise and monitor safe use and disposal of pesticides.
• Prepare and implement sectional programs, budgets and work plans.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Manager.

Person Profile

Appointments to this grade will be made from officers who have:-

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or any other relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
• A Masters degree in Science, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science, Analytical Chemistry or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Attended a management course for a period of not less than three (3) weeks.
• Served in a senior position in inspectorate or quality control for not less than five (5) years:
• A certificate in disaster management.
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional and Managerial competencies as reflected in work performance and results.

Assistant Manager, Human Resources Management and Administration

Job Profile

An officer at this level will report to the General Manager, Finance and Administration and will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:-

• Planning, organizing, administration, corporate image and control of operations of the organization.
• Making proposals on human resource planing and succession planning management.
• Management staff performance and Career Guidelines and making appropriate recommendation.
• Ensuring correct interpretation and implementation of human resource management and administration policies, rules and regulations including those relating to pensions, salary administration, labour laws and other statutes relating to human resource management.
• Analyzing the effectiveness of Human Resource Management policies, rules and regulations.
• Maintaining professional Human Resource Management Standards.

Person Profile

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• A degree in Social Science such as Public / Business Administration, Sociology, Economics, Human Resource/ Personnel Management, Government or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.
• A Masters degree in Human Resource Management / Industrial Relations / Public or Business Administration, Government or related qualification from a recognized institution.
• Served in a senior position in Human Resource Management / Administrative capacity or its equivalent in a reputable organization for a minimum period of eight (8) years.
• Have served as a Senior Human Resource Management officer or its equivalent for not less than three (3) years.
• Attended a management course for a period of not less than three (3) weeks.
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional and Managerial competences as reflected in work performance and results.
