Trocaire Jobs & Careers: REGIONAL EMERGENCY PROJECT OFFICER FOR HORN AND EAST AFRICA

(Six months Fixed Term contract, Renewable subject to availability of funding)

Trocaire seeks to fill the above position for its Programme function. The incumbent will be based at the Trocaire Regional Office in Nairobi with over 60% of the time spent in the field (Mainly Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda).

Job Purpose:

The job holder shall support the Regional Humanitarian Program Officer in developing and
strengthening the humanitarian capacity of implementing partners in the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific tasks:

• Support local partners in their planning, implementation and monitoring. Support local partners in building their capacity to deliver high-quality emergency response to the beneficiaries
• Train partners to gather lessons learnt, best practice and stories of change
across the program.
• Ensure International recognized humanitarian standards are respected
• Ensure donors guidelines are adhered to and compile the required narrative and financial
reports for the donors.

Personal attributes and requirements specific to the role

• Experience of coordinating or managing emergency Programs including FFW or CFW
• Ability to organize his/her work independently, prioritize, meet deadlines and multitask.
• Experience of working with international donors and reporting and monitoring according to
specific donors templates.
• Proven experience in capacity building processes and techniques, and the provision of
technical advice through on the job training.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles, understanding of Sphere, Good enough Guide, Code
of Conduct.
• Concrete and Action oriented person
• Good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate sensitively to a broad range of people
and organisations within a cross cultural context.
• Proven organisation and administrative skills and proficient with standard IT packages
especially Excel. Excel competencies will be tested before the interview.
• Possession of a First degree in Development studies, Masters would be of distinct advantage.
• Ability and willingness to travel 60% of the time throughout the Region
