HIV/AIDS Thematics Manager Job Vacancy: Accord International

Location: Nairobi

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Head of Policy and Advocacy, the HIV & AIDS Thematic Manager is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the HIV & AIDS thematic work in line with the overall strategic plan and the Pan-African Programme.

The overall responsibilities include strategic planning, technical support on HIV and AIDS work, HIV and AIDS research and advocacy work, fundraising and donor reporting, documentation of best practices and learning, and monitoring and evaluation.

Required Competencies

Education/Qualification and Experience
  • Masters in Social Sciences or Development
  • Five (5) years work experience in the field of HIV & AIDS with an International Non-Governmental Organisation at Management level;
  • Strong experience in strategic planning and policy formulation;
  • Strong experience in lobbying and media work;
  • Experience in popular mobilisation and policy advocacy at Pan-African and International levels;
  • Experience in alliance and partnerships building;
  • Bilingual (English-French) spoken and written is an essential requirement for the position.
Technical Expertise
  • High level of conceptual, strategic thinking
  • Very good analytical and conceptual skills;
  • Communicating with impact with various stakeholders;
  • Excellent Communication (written and oral) and Public Relations skills;
  • Very good understanding of HIV & AIDS issues at the level of Policy influence on the Pan-African scene;
  • Highly conversant with Civil Society and Social Movement approaches on HIV & AIDS work at Pan-African level;
  • Good organisational research, negotiation and analytical capabilities;
  • Ability to identify, obtain and analyze information from a variety of sources.
