Principal - Bondo University College, Maseno University Job Vacancy

On 11th May 2009 His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya issued an Order through Legal Notice No. 56 for the establishment of Bondo University College as a Constituent College of Maseno University.

The appointment of the first Principal of the College is spelt out at paragraph 8(4) of the Legal Notice. Accordingly, Maseno University Council is looking for a dynamic and visionary Principal to lead and drive this newly established Constituent College.

Duties and responsibilities

Being the Chief Executive, the academic and administrative head of the University College, the Principal will work under the direction of the Council.

The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and direction to ensure that the University College attains a high level of competitiveness and achieves its objectives; advise the Council on development needs of the University College and ensure timely preparation of annual plans and estimates as well as prudent management of the finances.

The Principal will also be expected to play a key role in the facilitation and maintenance of linkages with other institutions of higher learning.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should:

• Be Professors who have at least 10 years experience in senior management positions with outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record as well as administrative and academic leadership.
• Have proven experience in provision of corporate academic and administrative leadership.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in fundraising and prudent financial management.
• Have a track record of success and performance characterized by visionary and strategic thought, rapid growth and service delivery as well as translation of ideas into value outputs.
• Have the capacity to motivate and influence staff, students and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively and good interpersonal skills.
• Show good understanding and commitment to the University coupled with a passion for the promotion of learning, excellence in teaching, research and innovation with the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
• Have skills, capacity and determination to lead the technology transfer functions of the University College.
• Have proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development in a university setting.
• Have a good understanding of the national policies and strategies governing university education and training in Kenya.
• Have a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of higher education.

Terms and conditions of service

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package in accordance with the existing terms and conditions of service.

Employment will be on a three year contract, renewable depending on performance.
