General Manager Job Vacancy

Purpose of the Position

The position reports to the Board of Directors.

The General Manager will provide visionary leadership toward the achievement of the organization's goals and objectives oversee the management of the day to day running of the Company and spearhead coordination and partnership building.

Major Functions/Accountabilities:

i) Leadership, Policy and Strategy Development
  • Support operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members and Interfacing between Board and staff.
  • Taking a proactive role in the formulation of future strategic objectives and bringing them to the board for input, discussion and ratification.
  • Recommend on yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manage The Company’s resources within budget guidelines and in accordance to current laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring that all financial and non financial reporting requirements are met on a timely
ii) Day to Day Operations Management
  • Ensuring at that the day-to-day operations of the organization are effectively and efficiently co-ordinated and implemented within the framework agreed to by the Board
  • Implement stringent project management process to ensure the timely and cost effective development of key initiatives undertaken by the company.
  • Develop and manage performance based contracts for the achievement of agreed targets and objectives of the company.
  • Provide clear leadership, promote and foster a team culture consistent with company’s out side partners.
iii) Stakeholder Partnerships
  • Development and maintaining effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders including public, private, civil society and development partners.
  • Developing a wide range of relationships and networks with the local, national and international markets to position ABSL as a choice product and service provider.
  • Represent the Board in various functions and forums.

e) Academic qualifications and experience
  • Masters degree in business administration, marketing, strategic communication or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years experience in management of a private or public organization with a strong communication and/or marketing orientation.
  • Experience in matters relating to image and brand development will be desirable
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Representing and Deputizing of Board of Directors.
  • Improving, reviewing and maintaining financial systems for effective management of ABSL resources.
  • Ensuring reporting system is used to provide all stakeholders with timely financial reports
  • Overall responsibility of Budget and Financial Plan preparation and control
  • Formulating and implementing appropriate financial policies and procedures.
  • Managing working capital and cash flows
  • Preparing accounting reports and statements relevant for decision making.
  • Management, guidance and supervision of staff in the Finance Department;
  • Developing appropriate internal control systems.
  • Ensuring preparation of quarterly and annual statutory accounts
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory provisions in respect to financial reporting, taxation, and other related matters
  • Spearheading the development and implementation of the provision of payroll and other financial management services to external clients
  • Manage annual audit and liaise with external auditors on issues related to audit
Job Specifications
  • Must possess at least a Masters degree preferably, in Business Administration preferably in Finance, Entrepreneurship or Strategic Management;
  • Proven track record of formulation and implementation of financial policies, systems and regulations in compliance with Procurement Act and Regulations, Companies Act and tax authorities.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and proven track record on delivery of results.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess extensive computer skills.
