Job Description

  • To provide technical leadership to protection, peace building and promotion of justice projects, programs and issues in World Vision Sudan (WVS) operations.
  • To develop WVS Peace Building and Protection strategy, policy and action plans in consultation with the Operations Director and WVS Management
  • Define Protection focus areas relevant to WV ministry and in accordance with to the practical and strategic needs of children;
  • Create relevant donor liaison and develop proposals to ensure adequate funds for Peace Building and Protection activities as per WVS strategic guidelines.
  • Provide technical relevant advise to WVS on Protection and Peace Building issues.
  • To develop appropriate periodic position papers on Protection and Peace Building issues as may be relevant to WVS.
  • To actively engage with various Protection networks within and without the Partnership (child rights, gender, economic justice, peace and reconciliation) and regularly update the National Office.
  • To strengthen WVS representation on appropriate in Peace Building and Protection task forces and networks within Sudan.
  • To provide periodic macro-economic, conflict and peace building situation assessment and resultant policy analysis to relevant parties.
  • To analyze National and global policies that have critical implications to the ministry of WVS
  • To build the capacity of WV staff to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate Protection and Peace Building programs.
  • To promote the integration of protection and Peace Building issues (child rights, gender, economic justice, HIV/AIDS response and peace and reconciliation) in all program development work of WVS.
  • To develop efficient and effective guidelines and procedures for child protection and integration of children in holistic community development
Required:
  • A Degree in sociology, development studies, public policy, conflict resolution, or similar fields.
  • Minimum five years experience in community capacity building and protection/peace-building, and at least two years in management
  • Extensive experience in models and methods of training, facilitation, capacity building and mediation
  • Thorough knowledge of project management cycle and grant proposal writing
  • Excellent experience in accessing programming resources, especially from donor governments
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.
Preferred:
  • A Master’s Degree in sociology, development studies, public policy, conflict resolution, or similar fields
