Administration & Human Resource Manager --- a social enterprise developing small scale businesses

Overview

Our client is a social enterprise developing small scale businesses seeking to recruit an Administration and Human Resource Manager responsible for running and continually improving Administration and Human Resource needs in Kenya, while coordinating with other heads of departments and reporting to the Country Director, Kenya, and liaising with other country programs, especially those in the East Africa region.

Supporting the primary goal of increasing the business sales and use of micro-irrigation pumps and other technologies by ‘Base of the Pyramid’ investors and entrepreneurs, the Administration and Human Resource Manager’s major responsibility would be to maintain and strengthen the administrative and human resource components of the company's office in Kenya and team.

Key result areas
  • Human resource planning, recruiting, orienting and training as required in line with the company’s strategic needs and in liaison with other departmental heads.
  • Develop and administer strategic advisory services on human resource for and to all staff in liaison with other heads of departments.
  • Formulate and maintain administrative and personnel policies in line with changing circumstances and strategic needs of the organization in liaison with Executive Management ensuring that every staff member is completely conversant with company’s policies and that the policies are clearly followed at all times.
  • Ensure that the company’s administrative and personnel manual is in conformity with the laws of Kenya and necessary changes are done in line with changes that may be done by the Government of Kenya from time to time
  • Ensure that at all times adequate, up to date and affordable communication systems and facilities are provided to the staff in order for them to adequately perform their responsibilities. Also ensure that fair distribution of resources to departments and individual staff is done
  • In liaison with Country Director and other departmental managers design and implement a staff performance management system and format that reflect staff performance in all aspect.
  • At all times maintain updated staff personal files for Kenya staff, ensuring that all individual records are kept. Ranging from performance, operation, financial, administrative and any other that may be deemed necessary. Negotiate and carry out procurements of goods and services as required from time to time and where necessary negotiate and prepare agreements with company’s goods and services providers and consumers
  • With the Kenya Accountant, with whom the Administration and Human Resource Manager will maintain a close working liaison, prepare and present all necessary budgets for the Administration & Human Resource department, to the Country Director.
  • Liaise with Kenya Accountant, to make sure that all staff statutory deductions are made in compliance with the Law and regulations of Kenya plus negotiate and put in place all insurance policies related to staff and the company’s assets
  • In liaison with finance, keep records of all company assets ensuring that timely and proper maintenance of assets is done while in liaison with Executive Management, ensure that disposal of company assets is done in compliance with the Personnel and Administration Manual
  • Coordinate the distribution of the company’s technologies to retailers and individuals plus also ensure co-ordination of collection of technologies from the manufacturers at all times
Position requirements
  • At least five years experience working in a similar or related position.
  • Polished communication skills both in verbal presentations and in writing.
  • Fully computer literate, word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail.
  • Energetic “can do” attitude to work. Able to motivate fellow workers to work long hours.
