Brief Description

Develop, implement and maintain strategies for cost effective procurement of GSH, outstation and projects in order to achieve a safe and reliable supply chain for Kenya Airways

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  1. Develop, implement and review procurement policies, procedures and strategy to ensure procurement for GHS, Outstations and Projects delivers best value.
  2. Ensure buyers source GSH, Outstation and Projects requirements which meet KQ quality standards for smooth operation of the business.
  3. Undertake market research for GSH, Outstations and Projects procurement prices at various network points to ensure best prices are enjoyed by KQ.
  4. Carry out periodic cost/benefit analysis on procurement methods to ensure best options are used to achieve quality for GSH, Outstation and Projects purchases.
  5. Ensure stake-holders adhere to laid down procurement procedures and policies to improve current practices, which will in turn bring down costs.
  6. Negotiate best price and terms of contracts with suppliers to achieve savings.
  7. Prepare contract terms and conditions and get legal dept sign-off.
  8. Develop and enhance the use of IS systems to speed up and simplify procurement processes.
  9. Respond to procurement queries to enable staff to act accordingly.
  10. Undertake supplier rationalization, development and performance rating to ensure timely deliveries and quality assurance including supplier database maintenance.
  11. Control and monitor section budget to control costs.
  12. Preparation of purchasing reports for management review.
  13. Motivate, develop and lead the buying team to achieve desired results.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
  • Business or relevant degree
  • Graduate Diploma in supplies management or equivalent from a recognised institution
  • IATA Contracting Framework
  • Experience in handling GHS contract sales and purchases
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Knowledge on tender procedures
  • 5 years experience in purchasing and supplies management
  • 3 years in management level.
