This highly regarded International Financial Institution involved in international banking and the promotion of trade (the "Bank") is looking to recruit a number of suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following exciting and highly challenging professional positions:
Qualifications:
Entry into the organization's professional class requires that candidates hold superior first degrees (not below a second class lower honours degree) from a leading University in either Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration or other disciplines relevant to the position.
Candidates must also hold at least one higher degree from a reputable University in the relevant discipline or an internationally recognised professional qualification in relevant fields.
Candidates must be fluent in either English or French with a working knowledge of the other with demonstrable experience of working successfully in a multicultural environment.
Previous or current experience of working within a leading financial institution in Africa would be a distinct advantage.
Experience:
1. Head of Risk Management
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Bank's Risk Management Policies and Procedures as well as related internal control systems.
The candidate must have proven risk management and control experience, preferably in an international financial institution.
He/She must also have proven relevant experience in arranging loan work- outs in difficult markets, while good understanding of project and structured trade finance is essential.
Also required is the ability to prepare clear, concise, technical reports and papers targeted at mixed audiences and the capacity to work within strict deadlines.
The candidate must have worked in a financial institution for at least 12 years post- graduation and must demonstrate good knowledge of African economies.
2. Senior Officer, Finance & Accounts
The candidate must have post qualification experience of at least 8 years in addition to wide and diversified experience in preparing accounts and budgets, loan accounting, use of appropriate management information system and knowledge and application of appropriate International Accounting Standards, (especially the International Financial Reporting Standards, IFRS) .
The candidate(s) must have experience of dealing with internal and external auditors, preferably in a financial services environment.
The candidate(s) will be required to participate in the implementation of the Bank's Treasury Policies and Procedures, including liquidity management and conduct of treasury functions as well as managing the Bank's relationship with rating agencies and bond holders. Experience in these areas is therefore essential.
Suitable candidates will have an internationally recognised accounting qualification.
3. Senior Officer, Banking Operations
The candidate must have at least 8 years of financial industry experience in a leading financial institution involving financial and credit analyses. He/she must be highly experienced in loan administration, loan agency and delivery of trade services and correspondent banking.
The candidate must have good experience in review of bank and corporate credit proposals involving short and medium term transactions.
Experience and understanding of diverse credit instruments and techniques, especially structured trade finance, is essential.
The candidate is also expected to be familiar with modern loan administration systems and software. Prior experience within leading financial institutions in Africa would be a distinct advantage.
4. Senior Economic Analyst
knowledgeable about African economies and the dynamics of international trade. The candidate is also expected to be experienced in developing strategic plans for financial institutions and knowledge of structuring project finance in various sectors is essential.
Good knowledge of company and concise, technical reports and papers targeted at mixed audiences and capacity to work within strict deadlines.
Experience in the financial services industry is required.
5. Senior Officer, Legal
The candidate must have at least 8 years experience of preparing loan documentation for delivery of a variety of financial services, including trade and project finance, guarantees, syndicated loans, export credit agency- backed financing etc.
He/She must also be experienced in loans negotiations and negotiating treaties and related agreements.
He/She must also have experience in , loan terms restructuring and foreclosure practices.
Skills in drafting a variety of agreements covering credit transactions in different jurisdictions are also required.
The candidate is expected to have a professional legal/bar qualification and demonstrate ability to work within tight deadlines.
6. Senior Officer, Trade & Corporate Finance
The candidate is expected to have 8 years of experience in originating and completing trade finance transactions across a spectrum of sectors in different countries.
The candidate must have the ability to prepare annual business development plans, covering all aspects of international trade finance as well as the ability to translate these plans into real business for the Bank from all segments of the trade finance market.
For example, these plans would include expanding the Bank's factoring, forfeiting and remittance-backed business, establishing ties with market participants, including African banks that are designated Trade Finance Intermediaries of the Bank, corporates and commodity traders and bodies.
The candidate must be very conversant with the African trade finance market.
He/She must also be versatile in designing schemes and road shows for establishing market presence with emphasis on broadening the geographic scope of the Bank's activities.
7. Head of Branch
The candidate will be required to have at least 10 years of proven experience in originating and completing trade finance transactions across a spectrum of sectors in different countries.
The candidate must have the ability to prepare annual business development plans, covering all aspects of international trade finance as well as the ability to translate these plans into real business for the Bank from all segments of the trade finance market.
For example, these plans would include expanding the Bank's factoring, forfeiting and remittance-backed business, establishing ties with market participants including African banks designated the Bank's trade finance intermediaries, corporates and commodity traders and bodies.
Candidates must be able to represent the Bank and make presentations in high level meetings and other fora in conformity with the high standards for which the Bank is known.
They are therefore expected to demonstrate a high level of management experience and proven drive necessary for achieving set goals.
