Kenyatta University Jobs: GRANT WRITING ASSISTANT

OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR (ADMINISTRATION)
Kenyatta University wishes to invite qualified and dedicated applicants to fill the following vacant position.

DIRECTORATE OF GRANT WRITING AND MANAGEMENT
GRANT WRITING ASSISTANT
Reporting to the Director, University Grant Writing and Management, applicants must be holders of a PhD degree or Masters Degree in a field closely related or involving project planning management and evaluation from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
• Show evidence of a previous successful grant writing experience
• Show a proven record in raising substantial research and development funding, with successful proposal development and negotiations with investors
• Demonstrate a record of building partnerships and strategic alliances
• Have excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written with demonstrated ability to prepare written materials suitable for a variety of audiences
• Have basic familiarity with electronic communication and standard office computer software.

Successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Assisting the director in the development of vision, mission, goals and strategies for the directorate
• Assist in the development of strategic and operational plans
• Assist in the management of individual and University wide grants
• Assist in budgetary planning
• Assist in designing and managing a result-based M&E system, including impact assessment of the grant writing Directorate
• Assist in organizing and conducting regular reviews and evaluation at different operational levels.
• Assist in preparation of proposals for donor funding
• Assist in identifying calls for proposals from different funding agencies and
• Gather donor intelligence and strategic thinking

Terms of Service:
Terms will be on a two (2) year performance based renewable contract. Other benefits include gratuity at the end of the contract, medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
