Operations Officer
The Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) is a multi-donor trust funded program, administered by the World Bank, with a mission to help poor people gain sustained access to water supply and sanitation services.
WSP operates in Africa, East Asia, Latin America, and South Asia. The WSP Africa regional office is located in Nairobi.
WSP-AF seeks to recruit an Operations Officer to be based at the World Bank Office in Dar es Salaam to implement a project entitled "Scaling Up Hand washing Behavior Change to Protect the Health of Poor Families and Children".
The Operations Officer will support the WSP Africa Regional Team Leader in, among other things:
(a) leading the coordination and implementation of the project by promoting country hand washing programs,
(b) supervising and providing technical input to concepts, approaches and communication plans for the mass media, direct consumer, interpersonal and advocacy components of the hand washing initiative
(c) ensure satisfactory production of communication materials,
(d) applying program models developed in collaboration with the private sector and
(e) participating in national sanitation and hygiene dialogue with country clients and partners.
The successful candidate will:
(a) have a Masters degree in a relevant discipline (business, marketing, communications, behavioral sciences or other relevant field) plus a minimum of 5 years of experience,
(b) have a deep knowledge of hygiene behavior change or social marketing
(c) proven expertise in developing marketing plans and communication strategies aimed at behavior change
(d) have excellent written and verbal communications skills,
(e) have advanced computer skills in MS Word Excel and PowerPoint and
(f) be a strong team player with strong interpersonal skills.
