TECHNOSERVE JOB: RECRUITMENT OF REGIONAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR, EAST AFRICA DAIRY DEVELOPMENT

Reports to: East Africa Regional Director,TechnoServe.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya with up to 50% travel time to Uganda and Rwanda.

Project Overview:

TechnoServe is a member of a consortium of development agencies led by Heifer International in implementing the East African Dairy Development Program (EADD) in targeted districts in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The vision of success of the EADD Program is to transform the lives of 179,000 families (approximately 1 million people) by doubling their household dairy income by the year 2018 through integrated interventions in dairy production, market access and knowledge application.

TechnoServe is seeking to fill the position of Regional Program Coordinator under the East African Dairy Development Program whose primary function is to manage TechnoServe’s regional activities under the program with a particular focus on regional knowledge management and coordination of TechnoServe activities across the three program countries.

Main Functions

Specifically, the Regional Program Coordinator will undertake the following:

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with institutional partner representatives in the Regional Office in Nairobi and each of the three program countries across the region;
• Analyze regional market information, formulate recommendations to improve overall program performance, particularly with respect to doubling farmer incomes, and disseminate key findings
• Lead day to day regional project management activities, including budget management; tracking performance against project milestones and work plan development and monitoring;
• Coordinate TechnoServe’s EADD project activities across the region; Impact
• Partners and implementers informed of current conditions and new developments in the market through periodic dairy market reports for the region
• Toolkits, best practices information and market resources readily available to all partners and implementers. Toolkits and other resources should support and strengthen TNS’s roles in the program (organization of smallholder dairy farmers, strong supply of goods and services and expanded dairy markets) Knowledge & Expertise
• Advanced qualifications in business related studies and proven skills in project management;
• Strong analytical skills with proven ability to provide sound, fact-based recommendations;
• A minimum of four years professional experience;
• Strong interpersonal/people management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports;
• Track record of building strong client and partner relationships;
• Excellent English oral and written presentation skills;
• Strong private sector experience and entrepreneurial skills;
• Strong financial analysis and management skills;
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
