IT Security Officer Job Vacancy

A leading composite insurance company in Kenya invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of IT Security Officer.

Reporting to the IT Manager, the jobholder will be responsible for implementing IT security control measures, solutions and ensure compliance in order to meet business requirements.

To this end, he or she will be the local expert and first point of contact on all IT security matters.

Key responsibilities:
  • Implement IT security policies, standards, guidelines and processes
  • Promote and maintain a raised level of IT security awareness across the company
  • Provide solutions and expert advice to assist the business in the implementation and maintenance of acceptable levels of IT security
  • Ensure that critical security and vulnerability patches are deployed
  • Undertake risk assessment, propose and implement measures to mitigate the risks
  • Undertake local third party due diligence for critical IT vendors and service providers
  • Liaise directly with the Risk & Compliance team and provide regular reporting
  • Engage in the governance of change process
  • Prepare the necessary management reports
Requirements:
  • Have at least a bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience in an IT security focused role
  • Have CISSP, CISM, CISA or other IT security qualification
  • Have a working experience with Microsoft Office tools, Windows, UNIX and other platforms and applications
  • Have hands on experience on Microsoft Exchange and Windows 2003 Server platforms
  • Have good interpersonal skills, team player and good presentation skills
